Local historian John A. Cherrington has been practicing law since his call to the bar in 1976, and is a founding member of the firm. Mr. Cherrington has practiced in a wide variety of areas of the law, but these days he focuses his practice on Estates, Corporate Law and Real Estate.
Mr. Cherrington earned his Bachelor of Arts in 1971from the University of British Columbia, where he continued, obtaining his Bachelor of Laws in 1975. In 2006 Mr. Cherrington was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from Trinity Western University.
Mr. Cherrington is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, and past chair of the Association’s General Practitioners Subsection. Mr. Cherrington has also lent his time to lecturing for Continuing Legal Education on the topics of Law Office Management and Municipal Law.
In addition to the practice of law, Mr. Cherrington has authored three historical books on regional history. Mr. Cherrington’s interest in local history led to him being appointed the founding chair for the first three years of the Township of Langley’s Community Heritage Commission. Mr. Cherrington is also a board member of the Legacy Foundation.
When not busy in the office, Mr. Cherrington has been known to be found enjoying the Gulf Islands or walking the trails of Britain.
